The Information Systems Minor is a new and exciting offering at Washington College that allows you to explore ways in which computer technology can enhance organizational excellence. Although students majoring in any subject are invited to minor in Information Systems, if you are a Business Management or Computer Science major, this minor will be of particular interest.
The Information Systems minor will be helpful to you whether you intend to pursue graduate studies or direct entry into a career in industry. True to the spirit of a liberal education, the IS minor stresses data collection from a variety of sources, analysis and reasoning in the face of incomplete information, and clear written and oral communication.
Professors Austin Lobo and Susan Vowels are co-directors of the IS minor; either one can advise you on course sequences to fulfill the requirements. We recommend that you visit with Prof. Lobo or Prof. Vowels early in your Washington College career so that you can take full advantage of the many course offerings that are part of the IS minor. Since some of the courses are sequenced, you will achieve maximum flexibility if you begin the foundation courses no later than your sophomore year.
